The geranium essential oil has been used for centuries as a treatment for anxiety and is one of the best-known oils in Aromatherapy. It was originally extracted from plants around 1790 by a French physician who was looking for treatments that would help relieve stress levels among his patients. Today it is not uncommon to see ingredients with this aromatic scent included in many popular products such as soaps or lotions. In fact, some brands even use geranium exclusively because they believe its therapeutic properties are more cost-effective than expensive alternatives like lavender.
Geranium has been used for centuries in aromatherapy and in products that are designed to evoke calm or an uplifting sensation. However, if you look closely at the chemical composition of geranium essential oil, there is nothing particularly relaxing about it! TOPICAL USE: Use a carrier oil such as jojoba, almond, or coconut to make a therapeutic blend that gives you all the benefits of this wonderful oil.
OTHER USE: Our oils can be used as perfumes, to make cosmetics, soaps, and to add aromas to incense, candles, and other products. However keep in mind the concentration of oils such as cinnamon, clove, citrus, and mints are naturally much stronger and it is recommended to dilute further for topical use. You can add almond oil or coconut oil to take full advantage of the benefits that these oils provide.
